Integrating Intuitive Eating and Health at Every Size in the Residential ED Setting

This presentation will discuss the value of IE/HAES in nutrition counseling and therapeutic work for individuals with all eating disorder diagnoses and all body sizes at the residential level of care. IE and HAES principles will be presented, case examples with specific interventions will be covered, and the exploration of a practitioner’s own attitudes on weight and health will be discussed.

Presenter will review the basic concepts of IE and HAES and the barriers and benefits to implementation in the early stages of an individual’s treatment. Reviewer will also discuss how to overcome the barriers of this implementation during the initial stages of treatment. This presentation will be a comprehensive way to address weight and weight stigma, health-promoting behaviors, and overall behavior change within a clients’ journey to recovery.
