Treatment of Addiction and Co-Occurring Mental Health Conditions

CE Hours 3

About this live event

A three-hour workshop, Treatment of Addiction and Co-Occurring Mental Health Conditions, will provide an approach to integrating treatment of addiction and co-occurring mental health conditions with a focus on skills training for clinicians and how to teach those skills to individuals seeking help. The workshop will approach recovery from a developmental, bio-psycho-social perspective, incorporating neuroscience, recovery principles, relapse prevention skills, and how to apply knowledge and training in your work with patients. This training includes education, demonstration, role-playing, and plenty of room for open discussion.

Learning Objectives

  • List similarities of the addiction model of treatment and the mental model of treatment.
  • Compare and contrast the relapse-prone style and the recovery-prone style of coping with stuck points in recovery, and name at least two factors in each.
  • Define Neural Plasticity and describe how it applies to recovery from addiction and co-occurring mental health conditions.
  • Discuss the importance of social support for successful recovery.
