Concurrent Treatment of OCD and Substance Use Disorders (SUD)

CE Hours 2

About this live event

This CE is designed for clinicians who practice evidence-based interventions for OCD and want to expand their knowledge on treating co-occurring substance use disorders, as well as for clinicians who primarily focus on substance use disorders but have limited or basic knowledge of evidence-based treatments for Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD). The objectives are designed to equip participants with the introductory knowledge and skills necessary to provide effective, integrative care for clients with co-occurring OCD and SUD. This will ultimately enhance therapeutic outcomes and promote well-being.

Learning Objectives

  • Describe at least four current Evidence-based methods utilized to help people with Substance Use Disorders (SUDs).
  • Conceptualize a treatment plan for a hypothetical client using Evidenced-based practices for OCD and SUD.
  • Summarize the basic principles and processes of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT).
  • Discuss the nuances of various interventions in the context of OCD and SUD, identifying how certain therapeutic approaches may unintentionally reinforce a client's difficulties or maladaptive behaviors.
